I began my career in graphic design after studying the subject in college. My real-world expertise, however, was forged through years of hard work—nights and weekends dedicated to freelancing and contract projects. Roughly 6 years ago, as an international newcomer to the U.S. job market, I had the challenge of building a network from scratch, with no prior experience. My response was to immerse myself in continuous learning, utilizing online courses, digital workshops, YouTube to enhance my practical skills, and immediatedly applied these new skills in my ongoing freelance and contract work.
My journey started with on-site roles at various marketing agencies. This experience was invaluable, exposing me to a broad range of clients across different industries, and allowing me to design for diverse projects. As my skills grew, I transitioned to more freelance remote work, which rapidly expanded my experience. Working remotely gave me the freedom to take on a multitude of smaller projects without geographic constraints.
Over time, my portfolio and confidence grew, leading to opportunities to manage larger, long-term projects with high-profile clients. Today, I primarily work as an all-round designer and have also stepped into the role of an art director, focusing on brand visual direction. This evolution in my career reflects my comprehensive skill set and ability to lead and innovate in the field of graphic design. Each phase of my professional journey has been pivotal, continually shaping my capacity to deliver compelling and effective visual solutions for diverse clients.
